The old Tuamotuans called it Havaiki-ki-ruga (Havaiki-Above). They also believed in a land under the land named Havaiki-ki-raro. When someone died, the old Tuamotuans would say: " Ua hoki oia i Havaiki" (he has returned to Havaiki).
